Aeration and moisture retention

Indoor plants grow beautifully in Fernwood tree fern fiber. New Zealand tree fern fiber is soft, porous, spongy and long lasting, and it has fantastic moisture holding abilities. The natural product has a much larger surface area than many other substrates, which means they retain moisture much better.

New Zealand tree fern substrate is perfect for air layering and propagation for plant cuttings, with a very strong healthy root strike every time.

Ethically Sourced in New Zealand

Within the past 25 years, Fernwood NZ has developed a system that ensures all harvesting of tree fern in New Zealand is managed sustainably. There are no bulldozers involved, and no damage is done to the forest floor. NZ Fernwood tree fern fibre is environmentally responsible and entirely renewable. The environment is left as it was found - intact and undisturbed.

Most of New Zealand's native forests are found in National Parks, and those are fully protected. Fernwood NZ’s raw materials are sourced from a renewable resource on privately owned forest land only.
